Mini Australian Shepherd
freevistawallpaper1920x1200

Although the Miniature Australian Shepherd, is a wonderful breed they are not for everyone. Anytime someone is looking into getting a new pet it is highly recommended to research the breed, understand what the breed was originally bred for .Each breed has a purpose and will retain a lot of those instincts. These instincts may not work into everyone's lifestyles.

They are highly intelligent dog that needs a lot of attention, often called the velcro dog. They are eager to please and wish to be with you. While some can be constantly on the go, others are content to be active when you are active, and laid back when their families are relaxing. Needless to say they are not a breed you would put outside in the yard to live. They need to be a active part of the family. Left on their own they will find things to do that maybe be destructive or fatal to their health.

Most Mini Aussies are very affection it but are known to be reserved with strangers. This is not to be confused with shyness. Once they are introduced to your guests they should warm up although always showing their loyalty to their owners. Once introduced, some will become a wigglebutt sharing kisses and tricks for the new friend, while others that are more reserved will wish not to have the newcomer lavish attention on them but should never show aggression towards the attention of your guests.

To know what a Australian Shepherd should be is to study and Understand the Breed Standard!

While I breed Miniature  Australian Shepherds, and there is a lot of controversy over the Mini Aussie, I find the smaller size most enjoyable.  The smaller sized Australian Shepherd are perfect lap dogs, their size makes it easy for smaller active homes to enjoy the breed without having the larger size.
